Making a Difference
Growing up and traveling to countries where most of the students like myself lack of scientific knowledge or where a significant amount of the
population does not have enough money to subsidize their selves along with their families, I find myself talking about and liking those two websites:
Mathletics.com and Care.org. I always believed that education was one of the most important tools needed to succeed in life. The two websites that I chose
will give a broader understanding of who I am and the impact and change that I want to make in the world. Mathletics inspires children at an early age to like, understand, and to be successful and mathematics specifically in sciences by rewarding them and giving them the privilege to be seen all over the internet. Who does not like recognition? On the other hand, Care raises awareness on poverty and empowers women and little girls especially in the underserved communities.

Mathletics.com Mathletics purpose is to help students who struggles or not with mathematics to enjoy the topic and improve their results. It also helps to educate and empower students from kindergarten to twelve grade. Mathletics builds some sort of community around a common cause
which is mathematics. The way that it becomes credible to individuals is by being credited by multiple schools all over the world, by being able to send emails to instructors, students, and parents as well in order to show the childs’ progress, and lastly by its multi-award winnings. Furthermore, the logo for the mathletics website represents the science elements in their respective colors: blue, green, and red. In my opinion, one of the many ways that the logo of mathletics works well with the purpose of the website is that each color of the elements might represent a global ethnic group therefore, everyone is involve in the website. There, as you get directed to other pages times to times you will always see a mathematical related image. Some images are only understandable by students from high school. As the colors represent tranquility, confidence and intelligence, we can easily infer that the purpose of this choice of color is to bring the students into an atmosphere of understanding. The authors sound confident when talking to their audience. The matheletics website offers various features such as, multiplication, addition, division, and subtraction to name a few. I believe that students from first to sixth grade use the site regularly not only because it is a fun learning experience but also, because it might be the only way that they get to use the Internet on weekdays. Nonetheless, the website is easy to manage; all you need is a username, a password, and in some cases a school code for the students. Personally, I like mathletics because it is a fun educational website especially for mathematics as we all know that it is for the most part of the students the least favorite subject in school. http://www.mathletics.com/ |
Care.orgCare.org is the second website that I choose. Its purpose as an international non-profit organization is to help people especially women and girls in the underserved communities by giving them a maximum of first care aid such as, food, shelter, and health. This site is encouraging individuals who wants to make a difference in the world or even in their communities to take action by not waiting until a disaster strikes. This site also sells women and girls by the tremendous amounts of advertisements of girls and women that are present and visible to all. Care.org fights poverty in the world’s poorest communities. Furthermore, care does not only have their own professionals helping to stop poverty in the world but also they offer the opportunity to dedicated individuals as well to be part of all of their events. As we can see, the website recruits volunteers from all over the continents through their website and one way to get involve is by connecting with the organization by entering your email address or by fundraising for them. Nonetheless, the website is structured in a way that makes communication easier highlighting the work they do, the countries that they help the most, their economic development for the particular country for example. When it comes to the design aspect of care, its orange logo represents different ethnic groups holding hands defining in their own words the true meaning of unity perhaps. It works with the purpose of the website because it shows that regardless of your color, whether you are a man or a woman, they are there to help you. I believe that the color plays an important role. In terms of mood the color white brings the peace of mind to the site making it easier to read and to mentally relax the audiences mind. On the other hand, the color orange is a power, healing color stimulating enthusiasm and creativity according to crystal-cure.com. Nonetheless, the authors seems to be very credible in my opinion. Their intended audience is rich and middle class individuals who are not living under the poverty line. I really like this website because it makes me realize that there are good people and organization in the world who wants to make a difference. http://www.care.org/ |
The video below raises awareness on the way that it feels to be a girl in the underserved communities. No child should be left behind!
Care.org and Mathletics.com are two websites that I really like to talk about. The reason behind this is simply because they both helps people who are in need. Mathletics helps individuals who lacks of any sciences knowledge to become a better scientist for themselves whereas Care raises awareness on poverty especially in the underserved communities. Moreover, the two websites share many points in common as well as differences and this is another reason why I am passionate to talk about them. Mathletics and Care teaches us that in order to attract people not only does the logo counts but also does the content of the site play an important role. Lastly, from my better understanding of web design I will now pay a closer attention to the information that I will put on my site and the colors present as well as I now know that background colors, pictures, and contents are necessary tools to attract people.
